A garden 'painter' captures the essence of Alsace, outside St Laurent Church in Wintzenheim

Alsace, a region that is a part of France but borders Germany, still can’t quite make up its mind about its real heritage. A fine culinary tradition deriving from France is counterbalanced by unique German architecture and customs, and a dialect that lies halfway between German and French. Scenically and culturally diverse, Alsace is one of the most interesting places in France to visit.
