Khabarovsk shipping terminal, on the Amur River

Khabarovsk, on the junction of the giant Ussuri and Amur Rivers in Russia’s Far East, is an unexpectedly gracious city. Its art nouveau Russki-style architecture, unique in Russia, is currently undergoing a full-scale facelift. Then, when the leaves turn a few weeks later, the city’s trees come ablaze in Kodachrome colours, of every shade on the red-yellow spectrum.
