My thighs feel like stiffened boards glued together with jelly. My calves seem to be turning into bullocks and heifers. All those hard weeks of training, agonized mile upon tortured mile, seem to have been in vain.

Such is the price  the cyclist must pay for daring to tackle the rugged hills of western Tasmania, in Australia’s super-scenic island State. While the west coast is not the easiest part of Tasmania to cycle, it’s certainly the most spectacular.
