Ready for some time out from trekking around India? The sleepy tropical island of Diu clings like a flea to the underbelly of the Gujarati elephant; teasing its giant neighbour’s itch (or rather, its thirst). As you cross the causeway to Diu, you arrive at a scaled-down Goa. Looking back from the formidable 16th-century fort, baroque churches stand out against the skyline of this half-forgotten remnant of Portuguese India.
Time for a cool draught of something a little stronger than fruit lassi…
