The Indian state of Assam is well known for its tea production, but not much else. This is unfortunate, as the state has a unique history and culture stretching back to the days when the area was ruled by the Burmese. The Brahmaputra River, lifeblood of Assam, gives an unmatched fertility to the soil, and has also nourished a rich legacy of legends and heroic mythologies
