A young visitor holds one of The Rock’s most popular souvenirs during a slow and very pleasant cruise of the harbour. The Rock soars above all. (Top right) The amazing airport was built on reclaimed land. (Bottom right) |
Looming out of azure blue waters at the gateway to the Mediterranean Sea is one of the world's most unmistakable landmarks. Migratory birds rest on it, resident monkeys scamper around it and awed tourists photograph it from every angle. Everyone has a reason to enjoy the Rock of Gibraltar.
A 426 metre high mass of grey limestone soaring from a small peninsula and connected by a narrow isthmus to southern Spain, The Rock, as it's locally known, provides a superb vantage point for an unparalleled scene over two continents.
From the Top of The Rock, the northern tip of this geologic giant, the panorama encompasses the mega popular Spanish resorts of Algeciras and the famed Costal del Sol to the north, African Morocco and the city of Tangier to the south and the narrow Straits of Gibraltar which separates the two land masses.
An illustrated feature on the Gibraltar can be written on assignment from 1000 to 2000 words depending upon editorial requirements.
