The fearsome Naga Jolokia chilli

In Search of the World’s Hottest Chilli: They say that only a masochist likes eating hot chillies. But if every masochist needs a sadist, then the chilli growers of north-eastern India must be some of the most sadistic people on earth. The Naga Jolokia, grown in Assam and Meghalaya, was rroclaimed by Indian scientists as “the world’s hottest chilli”. After some scientific dispute, their claims were recently confirmed. I  track down the Naga Jolokia in Tezpur, a name meaning “The City of Blood”. Can there be a connection between the blood and these fiery chillies?
