The first murder since 1855 propelled tiny Norfolk Island into the world spotlight recently.  The murder itself was solved five years after its perpetration, with the conviction in 2007 of a local Norfolk Island resident.

Usually, all that Norfolk Islanders have to deal with is issues such as the proposed introduction of mobile telephones (Fortunately, the proposal was defeated at a referendum.)

Now, the islanders (who still speak a unique dialect - a mixture of Tahitian and Old English) want to move on, and continue welcoming visitors to their blessed shores.

A former penal colony and home to descendants of the infamous Mutiny on the Bounty, Norfolk Island is like no other place on earth.
