  A serendipitous trip by motorbike, bus, bicycle, boat and on foot through the four southern provinces bordering Hanoi in northern Vietnam is a true voyage of discovery. The only thing that will slow down the traveller is the fear of constantly being plied with the local firewater, a brew that varies from mildly alcoholic to near-lethal.
