Singapore Tees

By: Thomas E King

The elevated 2nd tee has panoramic vistas of the South China Sea. (Right) Water hazards attract migrating birds and miss hit golf balls! (Far Right) The Tanjong Course weaves its way around a lovely tract dotted with mature trees.

Singapore’s resort-dotted, attraction-studded and activity-oriented holiday island of Sentosa is a stylish and sophisticated golf getaway that offers sweeping vistas over a spectacular city skyline and the mighty expanse of the South China Sea.

Visiting players have access to the 6014 m Tanjong Course which after a $30 million upgrade in 1993 was nominated as Singapore’s best golf course for three consecutive years.

While it doesn’t rate as the signature hole I nonetheless particularly like the Tanjong’s elevated 2nd hole which features an island-like green and sweeping overviews of the South China Sea.

Demand is so great for prime tee times, however, that your best option for a relaxing game on this Singapore star is a weekday morning.

An illustrated feature on the great golf opportunities at the Sentosa Golf Club can be written on assignment from 1000 to 2000 words depending upon editorial requirements.  A short ‘sidebar’ or a dedicated feature can also be written on the many things to see and do in Singapore.
