The Noosa Farmers' Market, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, has grown to be one of the biggest in Australia. Over a hundred vendors offer everything from goats' cheeses to fresh spanner crabs to locally-produced Arabica coffee.

Shane Stanley, founder and manager of the Noosa Farmers' Market, gives some reasons for the market's success. "Rich soils, good rainfall and low development make for top farm produce," he says. "But the main priority is making money for the farmer. Without that primary focus, no amount of community spirit will be of any use".
