The Cajuns of Louisiana (USA) are largely the descendants of French immigrants to Nova Scotia, who were tragically deported from their new Canadian homeland in the mid-18th Century. Cajun stories are told through Creole, Cajun and Zydeco music, which can be heard throughout French Louisiana and in particular at Lafayette’s giant annual (April) Festival International de Louisiane. A celebration of all things Francophone, this Festival attracts musicians and dancers from , Quebec, West Africa and a host of local Cajun bands.

The 21st annual Festival International de Louisiane will be held from April 22-26, 2009, in downtown Lafayette.
