Gone are the days when getting around Bangkok meant hours stuck in tightly gridlocked traffic. The city’s new network of sky-trains, underground trains and river ferries, all connected at interchanges, makes getting around this sprawling city a breeze. From August 2008, the system will be augmented by a fleet of state-of-the-art buses running in dedicated lanes. Here are ten suggestions for things to do and see using Bangkok’s new transport network, as well as some tips for easy travel.

Did UFOs visit China?

Archaeologists have yet to determine the origin of the bizarre bronze artefacts in Sichuan's...

Sanxingdui, near Chengdu (Sichuan, China) is home to a mind-boggling museum of bronze artefacts unearthed in China between 1986 and 2001. These remarkable figurines look as though they could have come from Mayan sources, or directly out of Star Wars. Just where the designs come from is as yet a total mystery; even more mysterious is why Sanxingdui, just an hour by road from Chengdu (the capital of Sichuan province) is not more widely known

Test-driving a gutsy Volkswagen EOS convertible along Victoria’s Ocean Road is a real challenge.

Test-driving a gutsy Volkswagen EOS convertible along Victoria’s Ocean Road is a real challenge. The challenge comes not from the car itself, with its fine engineering and road-handling capabilities, but from the host of things to see and do along the way – from super-scenic seascapes and forest panoramas to classic pubs, top restaurants and quirky art galleries.

From Bangalore to Bengaluru

Back to the future in India's IT hub

In November 2006 Bangalore, the “outsourcing capital of the world”, reverted to its pre-colonial name of Bengaluru. Its main thoroughfare MG Road is a foretaste of the new urban India, with strips that would rival anything in Manhattan. But those seeking to outsource IT work to Bengluru should be SUPER-careful of what they are getting into.
